General Position Summary

As a Field Operations Manager employed by Alff Construction, you will oversee all work performed by Alff employees for your assigned region. You will monitor the progress of projects with clients while ensuring compliance with industry and client standards. You will manage self-performed operations in landscaping, sweeping, snow removal and other various interior and exterior maintenance trades, educate staff on safety practices, and evaluate employee performance. You should be detail-oriented, have good management abilities, and be knowledgeable of trade equipment, performance methods, safety, standards, and regulations. The Field Operations Manager will visit client sites to verify performance quality and client satisfaction, and oversee Field Team Leads in daily operations. You will demonstrate exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. The Field Operations Manager reports to the Regional Manager. This role will have sound knowledge of interior/exterior property maintenance, industry standards, pricing, working knowledge of vehicles, construction tools and equipment. This role will have outstanding leadership, project management and problem-solving skills along with excellent organizational and communication skills and confidence to thrive under pressure.

Travel (% of work period)

Approximately 25% for site visits

Job Functions

  • Verify efficient completion of work to scope, quality, and timeliness standards
  • Coordinate with staff to develop and submit proposals for new projects, keeping budgets, costs, and margins in mind
  • Coordinate with clients of Alff-performed accounts
  • Serve as primary contact for all on-site client representatives, and be knowledgeable of all work recently completed, occurring, or pending
  • Oversee reactive and recurring work activities, proposals, and schedules for entire territory
  • Oversee and spot check routing efficiency and compliance
  • Manage, budget, and coordinate vehicle and non-fleet power equipment repairs and requisitions for service territory
  • Manage labor staffing with input from Field Team Lead and workorder volume
  • Manage, plan, and forecast staff hours and overtime needs with input from Field Team Leads
  • Evaluate the performance of staff; identify, and execute performance plans, and corrective action as needed
  • Coordinate with Field Team Leads to develop and submit client proposals and quote new client opportunities
  • Ensure emergencies are handled appropriately according to established procedures; oversee incident reports and submit to HR-New training opportunities
  • Coordinate with Territory Vendor Managers for subcontractor resources and develop effective vendor relationships
  • Communicate goals and strategy for profitable, sustainable self-performance of accounts
  • Drive efficiency and margin with effective use of all available technologies
  • Work with peers in other regions to improve company-wide self-performance
  • Manage Alff facilities within territory including maintenance, improvements, and staff
  • Oversee the safety and compliance of all self-performance staff and implement process improvements as needed

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a project manager, preferably in similar field
  • Valid Operator’s License

Computer Skills: Quick learning ability for new database programs, proficient navigation of communication platforms (such as Timecard system, Microsoft Office, etc.), and moderate proficiency in Microsoft Suite programs, fleet telematics, ADP.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Construction Science, Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred.
